Assistant General Manager – The Trolley Depot (Salem, MA)
About Us: Located in the “Times Square” of historic Salem, Massachusetts, The Trolley Depot is a beloved retail destination for tourists and locals alike. Our store blends Salem’s rich history with contemporary culture, offering everything from Witch Trial-themed gifts and gothic goods and pop culture collectibles. With a prime location at Essex and Central, we serve hundreds of thousands of visitors annually.
The Role: The Trolley Depot is seeking a high-energy, highly organized, hands-on Assistant General Manager (AGM) to join our leadership team. You will work side-by-side with our long-tenured General Manager, learning every aspect of our store operations.
This is an exceptional opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, customer-focused retail environment and is ready to take ownership of an established, high-volume retail business.
What You’ll Do
Help run day-to-day store operations
Assist with hiring, training, scheduling, and leading staff
Make sure the store looks great and customers are happy
Work with inventory, orders, and vendors
Handle cash and daily reports
Participate in planning for seasonal displays, promotions, and the busy Halloween season
Bring new ideas to improve the store
What We’re Looking For
3+ years in retail management or supervisor role (tourist or busy environment a plus)
Organized, detail-oriented, and good with people
Strong leadership and communication skills
Comfortable with POS systems and basic reports
Passion for customer service and interest in Salem’s history/vibe
Nice to Have
Buying or merchandising experience
Social media or event planning skills
Bilingual (helpful, but not required)
