Role: Database Administrator

Orama has partnered with an Austin-based startup and we are looking to hire a SR PostgreSQL DBA. This team is building a modern platform for debt collection agencies that replaces legacy systems with automated outreach and real-time workflows. It's a data-heavy product, and Postgres sits at the center of it.

What You'll Do:

• Manage and tune PostgreSQL across all environments
• Administer AWS RDS (backups, snapshots, parameter groups, multi-AZ, maintenance windows)
• Improve performance on high-wire workloads tied to messaging and automation pipelines
• Write, review, and optimize complex SQL for product features and reporting
• Troubleshoot issues like locks, vacuum behavior, indexing, replication lag, and I/O bottlenecks
• Automate routine DBA tasks and keep documentation clean and up to date

What We're Looking For:

• 5+ years running PostgreSQL in production at scale
• Strong skills in indexing strategy, query planning, and vacuum tuning
• Experience with AWS RDS for PostgreSQL
• Ability to write and debug complex SQL
• Solid Linux troubleshooting experience

Work Environment:

• Remote on Wednesday, in office 9:30am - 3:30pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday
