Job Description As an Emerge Labs Principal Infrastructure Specialist, you will play a crucial role in supporting GDIT’s ability to conduct internal research and development (IR&D) building Digital Accelerators, Platforms and Mission Solutions within Emerge Labs. You will lead the day‑to‑day engineering, operations, and maintenance of GDIT’s Emerge Labs physical datacenters located in Falls Church, VA and collaborate with other Emerge Labs Engineers, Architects and Cybersecurity staff to meet IR&D datacenter requirements. Responsibilities Lead the day‑to‑day engineering, operations, and maintenance of GDIT’s Emerge Labs physical datacenters. Collaborate with other Emerge Labs Engineers, Architects and Cybersecurity staff to meet IR&D datacenter requirements including compute, storage, networking and virtualization capabilities. Drive process and procedures for managing our physical datacenter and onboarding tenant customers and appliances. Create and maintain datacenter documentation including rack and network diagrams. Conduct capacity planning and provide leadership recommendations for efficiently scaling services over time. Utilize networking and virtualization capabilities from vendors including VMWare, Cisco, Palo Alto, Dell, Google, Azure and AWS. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree (additional related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree). Certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, VMWare VCP or equivalent. 5+ years of related experience managing multi‑tenant, virtualized infrastructure and services. Hands‑on expertise managing multi‑tenant, virtualized infrastructure using VMWare and datacenter networking from Cisco and Palo Alto. Experience with hybrid, multi‑cloud environments leveraging AWS, Google or Azure. Experience troubleshooting and resolving hardware issues for IT infrastructure devices and documenting datacenters. Experience with datacenter capacity planning. Must be located within a 1 hour commuting radius of GDIT’s Falls Church, VA Headquarters campus and be willing to work onsite 5 days per week.
