An institutional cryptocurrency exchange is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join their engineering team in Chicago. This full-time role offers the opportunity to design and deliver the next-generation digital asset trading platform. This purpose-built marketplace combines the efficiency of modern crypto infrastructure with the rigor and safeguards of traditional financial markets. As Lead Engineer, you will be responsible for architecting scalable backend systems, driving the delivery of critical features, and mentoring fellow engineers in a fast-paced, high-impact environment.

  • 6+ years in a professional software engineering environment
  • Strong background in backend systems, REST APIs, and microservices
  • Proficiency with Java/Kotlin and Spring Boot
  • Excellent understanding of algorithms, data structures, and performance optimization
  • Experience debugging across multiple codebases
  • Proven leadership in mentoring and guiding other engineers\n

  • Relational databases (Postgres)
  • Messaging frameworks (RabbitMQ, Kafka, SQS)
  • Websockets (Stomp, etc.)
  • Cloud hosting experience (AWS or GCP)
