\nRegistered Nurse – Pediatric Hematology/Oncology/BMT - Travel - (Peds Hem/Onc/Bmt RN)\n
\nStartDate: ASAP \nAvailable Shifts: 12 N \nPay Rate: $1568.05 - $1728.05 \n
\no Beds: 24\n\n? 16 beds for Hematology/Oncology \n\n? 8 beds for Bone Marrow Transplant\n\n? Avg daily census: 22\n\n? All same staff but BMT is positive pressure environment\n\n? All RNs work interchangeably throughout 24 beds\n\no Required Experience: 2 years Peds with strong Onc/Hem/BMT experience\n\n? Nurses are acutely in the middle of tx, day 0, day 1 and during the sickest time – unless they are being intubated they are on this unit\n\n? \n\no Will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes if they are a strong BMT RN\n\n? Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:\n\no Ages: Neonate (more rare) to adults (if patient had childhood cancer treatment here, they will come to unit, even as an adult)\n\no “On-Service”: Solid tumor cancers, Leukemia, Sickle cell, Aplastic anemia\n\n? Highly acute bone marrow transplant population – this experience and skillset is a MUST – will receive patients s/p day 0, day 1 and 2\n\n? If child does not require intubation, they will come to this unit\n\no “Off Service”: Can take off service (non-Hem/Onc) but must be without communicable infections/precautions due to the neutropenic patient population\n\no Behavioral Health: unit will also commonly see BH Peds patients – diagnoses to include but not limited to: Pediatric behavioral/adjustment disorders, Suicidal Ideation, elopement, human trafficking\n\n? Unit is equipped with cameras in care areas\n\n? Psych Tech as available – will round a couple of times per shift and is always available if patient escalates\n\n? Patient Ratios:\n\no RN: Same on both shifts – acuity dependent\n\n? Hem/Onc – 1:3\n\n? Observation/Off Service – 1:3-4\n\n? Bone Marrow Transplant – 1:1-2, based on acuity\n\no CNA: 1:12\n\n? Required License, National Certification, Certs (BLS, ACLS, etc.), or other position specific requirements such as Driver's License and/or Insurance:\n\no BLS, PALS\n\no APHON provider card\n\n? APHON is just a certificate (like NIHSS) – CPHON and BMTCN are not required\n\n? Skills required:\n\no Required:\n\n? Port access experience is a MUST, Bone marrow transplant experience with Day 0-2 is a MUST, Chemo administration, Blood product transfusion, cardiac rhythm interpretation\n\n? Comfortability with blood cultures/central line care; PCA pumps, Heparin gtts\n\no Preferred:\n\n? End of Life care – Precedex gtt, Intransal Versed, Ketamine drips; chest tubes\n\n? Support within the Department:\n\no Charge RN/Supervisor – free floating\n\no Unit Educator - Days – will serve as additional resource if needed\n\no Task RN – 10am-1030p – will help with Admissions/Discharges/Tasks\n\no Security – until 9:30p\n\no HCTs – 1:12 ratio\n\no Cameras within unit\n\no Rounding Psych Tech as available – will round a couple of times per shift\n\no PICU consult team (all Ketamine drips, etc)\n\no APP (on site during day)\n\no Provider on call overnight\n\no IV/VAT team\n\no Phlebotomy – able to assist with morning labs/peripheral draws if needed\n\no RT, 24/7 in house\n\no Telemetry monitoring – bedside/nurses station monitoring – nurses are responsible\n\n? Technology/Equipment:\n\no EMR: EPIC\n\no IV Pumps: Alaris\n\no Med Dispensing: Omnicell\n\n? Floating: If yes, where?\n\no General Pediatric Medial units – will be based on skillset and needs\n\n? Ortho/Trauma, Gen Peds, Observation, ED Holds (admitted pts)\n\n? No floating to Main ER/PICU/NICU\n
