This Research Analyst will work directly with the analyst team to perform foundational fundamental research activities in support of the analyst team and portfolio managers, support senior analysts in their respective sectors and can include conducting research studies of industry groups or specific securities in conjunction with the team's efforts to mitigate risk and maximize risk-adjusted returns for client portfolios.
Over time, this person will work towards having full control of their sector and managing a focused-equity product under the supervision of the Research Analyst Senior Manager.

This person will:

  • Responsible for supporting the analyst team in efforts to generate differentiated, well-supported and concise fundamental equity and/or fixed income research on specific sector(s) and securities that leads to forecasting of various financial metrics which determines the appropriate value of a security. Will develop the skills to identify catalysts that will support the investment thesis and key risks to the thesis, sustainability of the business model, growth initiatives and cash generating potential. The fundamental analysis performed to arrive at recommendations includes studying company press releases and financial documents, participating on company earnings and other conference calls, corresponding with buy-side and sell-side analysts and company management team, attending or observing investment conferences and company analyst days, reading industry and financial publications, creating detailed financial models using historical and projected income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and capital structure information

  • Assist with the dissemination of timely and actionable verbal and written recommendations and applicable news flow to Kellogg and AIM Portfolio Managers on securities under research coverage through research notes and regular internal calls. Monitor company news, brokerage recommendations, and/or rating agencies and discern what information is valuable to decision makers and communicate on a timely basis. The deliverable from this work is timely recommendations to portfolio managers to buy, hold or sell securities. Recommendations have considerable influence on portfolios and thus have a material impact on risk management and portfolio performance.

  • Supportive role in new idea generation. Expected to assist the analyst staff in their efforts in new idea generation. Under the guidance of the Senior Research Analyst and analyst team, begin to develop an understanding of the various sectors and discover and research stocks in the sector. New idea generation is vital to successful money management as innovation brings about new industries and competitors and as current holdings are sold as our investment thesis is reflected in the stock price or is otherwise no longer valid.

Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics or similar field or equivalent combination of education and experience Required

  • Progress toward Master's Degree in Finance, Economics or similar field

Experience

  • 1-5 years of experience in Investment Management Industry Required
